Ed Crane, Acting Coach

Acting CoachEd Crane has successfully taught Monologue, Improvisation, Sitcom and Drama, and TV Commmercial at JRP New England, Open Call Model and Talent, and the United South End Settlements to children, teenagers and adults over a 15 year period. He has vast experience in the private coaching of actors and boasting the self-confidence for all kinds of people, some non-actors as well: musicians, public speakers and extremely shy individuals, utilizing movement, acting technique and improvisation. He is also available for small classroom instruction. Ed has has also taught in the Boston School System; and occasionally teaches art workshops on the Outer Cape, where as a Visual Artist, he regularly exhibits his artwork.

He has performed on stage in many theatre productions locally and in New York City where he played Flemming in Israel Horovitz’s Line for 6 months. On the Outer Cape, Ed has performed in four one act plays in Provincetown and in a staged reading of Bound for Cardiff with the Provincetown Theatre Company, which commemorated Eugene O’Neil’s 90th anniversary of living and working in Provincetown. Additionally, Ed toured New England in a production of Neil Simon’s Chapter Two. Other performances include dinner theatre and improvisational theatre with Boston’s Improv Olympics. He has also appeared in film and television as a member of the SAG, and on the radio. Most recently Ed performed an original performance piece at the ART House in Provincetown, MA.

Ed Crane hold a BFA from Emerson College in Boston.  Ed studied acting at HB Studios in NYC with Sandy Dennis, Anne Jackson and Arthur French, as well as improvisational theatre in Los Angeles with The Groundlings. Acting workshops include the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (London), the Roundabout Theatre Company (NYC) and the Barrow Group (NYC).

Joe Owens, Acting Coach

Joe has taught at Open Call Model & Talent since 2000. After graduating from Trinity Rep Conservatory in 1996, he performed with the American Repertory Theatre, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre and the Publick Theatre in Boston. He has appeared in corporate videos, TV commercials, and has done voice-over work in the Boston Area. In 2000-2001, he was the assistant Speech & Debate team coach at Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury (Massachusetts Speech & Debate League) and was a MSDL tournament judge. His focus is to help students of acting thrive while having fun. Teaching is his passion.
